The Potential

Morning Pogue,

Another day, another envelope.

So, we want to experience God, or Source. Not too much to ask, I’m thinking. After all, God is omnipresent and omnipotent so it strikes me that not experiencing God is more abnormal than normal. But then, as you know, I’m one on my own.

We’ve been corresponding on our re-reading of the Bible, a reading stemming from our years engaging with other religious systems, spiritualities and philosophies in the world. And, I think, we are coming to a different more experiential understanding of what a religion should be all about. I mean, if there is no experience to be had in your religion of choice, well, all you have is words on pages. Oh, and, of course, the invitation to make the leap across the chasm into a place of…blind faith? That place where you believe everything they tell you. Something like Alice’s dilemma in Wonderland:

“Alice laughed: “There’s no use trying,” she said; “one can’t believe impossible things.”
“I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was younger, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

Believing this and understanding that God will never be closer to me than God is in this moment. So, if I am not experiencing anything then the issues must be on my end and it is so for many, many of us. Additionally, if God is present all the time why, firstly, do so few choose to want to know God or even believe in the existence of the same and, even bigger question, why is there such diverse and conflicting opinion amongst those who speak of belief?

It is in this experiencing of God that we will begin to realise what potential is really ours. Well not ours per se but waiting for us to appropriate. That ‘knowing’ can become ours and then our actions, our thoughts, our motivations have the possibility of commencing in this place of absolute potential.

Will it be God’s action that we bring forth?

Well in part “Yes” because we will act from omniscience but also “No” because we remain human and this will cause us to filter in a way by what we do or say. Having achieved a place where we are touching omniscience then we must practice and practice in order that our filters become less of a hinderance, if that makes sense. Is the move into this place of “all knowing” enlightenment? Are we are shedding our limitations and entering into God Consciousness? Has the wave final realised that it is part of the ocean? Part of something infinitely greater?

Are you looking for me?
I am in the next seat.
My shoulder is against yours.
you will not find me in the stupas,
not in Indian shrine rooms,
nor in synagogues,
nor in cathedrals:
not in masses,
nor kirtans,
not in legs winding around your own neck,
nor in eating nothing but vegetables.
When you really look for me,
you will see me instantly —
you will find me in the tiniest house of time.”

Kabila

Let’s get a little selfish now and think about you, me and God. We want to experience God, to know more, to enjoy more and how do we achieve that? Well I’m thinking that it’s our old friends; meditation, prayer and silence. Some would say read the Bible or the Koran or the Gita or whatever text they considered God given. Well that’s fine, however I think we’ve done that enough and, as said, they remain just words on paper if we don’t have an ongoing experience to bring to them. They become a rule book, dry and confining. But if we touch Omniscience who knows what will open up to us! Omniscience lies all about us waiting to share.

And in being so can we now share in and from this endless depository of limitless resources? In the Old Testament book of Ecclesiastes the writer repeats several times that “there is nothing new under the sun”. I have always found this statement depressing, well at least until recently. Why? Because creativity ends here. There is no possibility of bringing forth anything unique, no original thought, nothing waiting to be found. But now I think differently. I think that all potential does already exist, hence the “nothing new”, but exists for those who dare. Those who will take the time, the effort, maybe the sacrifice to go to that place where omniscience dwells.

What you want is already here, in the unified field of pure potential. Everything you need to fulfil your greatest desire is already part of your being. But it can’t come out until you align with it, let go of the obstructions to it, and raise your vibration to the level it already exists.

Derek Rydall

Quantum physicists talk of the existence of parallel universes that all exists simultaneously, that in any moment infinite possibilities exist. Basically, it’s all there, and I guess that’s just omniscience by another term. Think of an infinite storehouse with shelves going on as far as the eye can see. On those shelves are every possibility. You want to write a story that’s unique in this world at this time? Then the content, the plot, the characters, they are all there to be taken and used. They exist already in Omniscience. Within the Field of Potentiality. Now they need bringing into this world and time.

The Field of Pure Potentiality is the nonlocal ground of all existence. So it is not in any one location, it is everywhere – it is in microtubules, and subatomic particles – it is the basis of the cosmos itself. It is the foundation of our own existence as well, therefore our core consciousness is that universal field of pure potentiality.

Deepak Chopra

Unique to those around you who have not or are not aware of this Potential but to you who are learning to live in that place of limitless abundance, something that has always been. Yours in so much as you have made the journey, the transition, have sought the relationship that has laid it open to you. Like a blind person who now sees, the colours have always been all about but to that person, they are new, an experience never had before. Does that make sense? They are both new and have always been.

I read somewhere someone saying that “God saves God’s best for those who take the time, make the effort” and here we are, turning away from the hustle of life to seek the silent place, to quieten ourselves and wait on a different view. My reading of the Bible is now from the perspective of one who realises the potential Jesus walked with. The limitless abundance he accessed both in his deeds and his words, an abundance he tried to give to us in his many instructions and examples:

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

John 14:12

I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.

John 10:10

True spirituality is filled with abundance and richness. Not the poverty of spirit so often attributed to the religious. True spirituality hears the promise of doing “even greater things” and is comfortable, smiles, is not concerned, because it realised “The Field of Potentiality”, which is there waiting for us to access. It does not tie life to the limits that most see in this world but has a limitless vista. Life abundantly.

Does this excite you? It blows my socks off! And I just want to know more, experience more, to learn to live in that place. That book I was always going to write is waiting there, along with a lot of other stuff that I was going to do. Maybe I’ll get them done?

Yours, blown away by the possibilities,

Wic
