I sat at the gate
As the sun filled the dawn
Gentle on my face
And I knew I was a part
A part of the morning of the world,
And all was at one,
Too perfect to be good
Nothing ruffled the ease that was
And everything could be no more
No more than it was in this moment,
Not nature
Red in tooth and claw
As it was always meant to be,
There was no noise
Despite the howling wind
The crashing of the waves
On the whispering sands
The creek of the earth in motion,
All was as it was meant to be
Harmony perfect on my ear
Soothing,
Everything just was
Like a finished jigsaw
Like a book complete
Concluded and epilogue written.
So tell me
Oh tell me why do we strive to write more?
It sounds like you are finding that “peace which surpasses understanding.” I’m glad for you, Wic!
