Morning Pogue,
There’s an old Robert Palmer song with a chorus of:
Ooh it takes every kinda people
To make what life’s about, yeah
Every kinda people
To make the world go round
And this forty years before we got to Black Lives Matter. Yes it does take “every kinda people” because life has the potential to be a vast canvas of richness if allowed to be. I say “allowed to be” as this is the crux of the matter. We need to allow ourselves space, stay our hand, and more so our opinions and let people have the opportunity to realise their potential. God help us exchange criticism for encouragement. Let’s believe there’s potential out there that just needs opportunity.
In Max Ehrmann’s Desiderata there is a line that states:
…listen to others, even the dull and ignorant: they too have their story.
“(E)very kinda people” is not just about nationality, colour or creed. It’s about the academic and the dull, the athletic and the disabled, the young and the old. It’s about recognising and then surrendering preconceptions. Exchanging much for humility and then, in humility, making space for others. Even though I can do a thing better or faster I won’t because I will make opportunity for someone else to begin to exercise their potential, to feel a sense of achievement and value. Maybe a small thing for you or me but a huge thing for someone else.
This week let’s believe everyone has something to contribute and make room for them to do so . Let’s add something to life that’s not currently there.
Remember, no judgement here.😎
Wic.
Good challenge Wic, everyone does have a story and we need to value them .
