Monday Musing

Pogue,

Do you remember a letter where I refers to the Rabbi Hillel? No? Then let me remind you.

A potential convert came to the Rabbi and said that if the Rabbi could teach him the Law and the Prophets, a massive volume of work, while the potential convert stood on one leg he would convert. The Rabbi said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and strength and your neighbour as you love yourself. That is the Law and Prophets, the rest is commentary.

I was reminded of this having received an email quoting St Augustine saying, “Love God and do what you will”.

One more quote. “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”. Leonardo Di Vinci.

Pogue, life is simple and the spirit that runs through life is not complicated. The rules, the real important rules, those that will guide you in all situation are few and you can rely on those and revert to those whenever you need guidance.

So, seek God, whatever you perceive God to be and live at peace with your God. And make your guiding principles love, kindness with an open mind as you approach life.

Don’t complicate things, don’t carry baggage you don’t need. Step lightly this week.

  1. You’re right… because there certainly is enough ‘real baggage’ to carry, I need to stop adding more to my load by overthinking and complicating things that could be simple!
Thank you for the inspiration to remember to step lightly ❤
