Pogue,
Over time I’ve read a lot about how we can manifest the things in life that we desire. This has come at a variety of levels. The easiest to understand is the Dream Board which, for the uninitiated, is a place where we put images that remind us of and help us define our dreams. It serves to bring the desired object, experience or outcome to mind on a regular basis. I’ve done this on more than one occasion.
Firstly I wanted a particular car. Not a high end super car but one that had the functionality to serve my daily needs. I cut out pictures and pinned them onto the board and, yes, in time I got the car. It didn’t magically appear but through a series of processes came to my possession. Would I have got it if I hadn’t focused on it? I’m thinking not because my desires would have fluctuated and the occasional flight of fantasy would have come into play. I mean, who doesn’t want to own an Aston Martin every once in a while?
Secondly, the board allows one to modify and define a desire or dream. This happened when we decided to build a house. Initially a collection of pictures of houses that we thought we would like to own were pinned up. Then, as we saw then regularly our thoughts became more focused and more specific details were added. Some houses came down and new ones went up. Because our minds were kept alive to the possibilities we were always finding new ideas or seeking solutions and exploring options. It was a defining process that actually went on for some years until we found a plot and committed to the build. By this time we had explore so many options we had a very clear idea of the “dream” house and, yes, we delivered on our dream. The Dream Board was a very important tool in the final product keeping us engaged and focused over a period of years.
There is much to be said for the old adage, “What you think you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create”. But, it is a process and not some hocus pocus. Yes it is the power of the mind and for many, many, the untapped power. It is an innate ability and it requires a sort of discipline that is not often present in people today. I mean, for most, a five minute YouTube video is a stretch in their attention span before they are moving on to the next stimulation. Tell me if I’m wrong!
Do you know what the Reticular Activating System (RAS) is? It’s a part of the brain. It basically filters information and brings to attention the things you are focused on whilst turning away things you are not. So, you enter a busy car park searching for a space and the RAS will cause you to start noticing all the signs of cars that are about to leave. Wham, you have a space, as if by magic. So, thinking, feeling and imagining are all tools to engage in programming your RAS. Once engaged the RAS will focus all around you and bring to your attention things that you may have previously disregarded. Suddenly you will believe you have entered a whole new level of engagement with the world. It can appear like magic, or some sort of new super power but it’s actually a power you’ve always had. It just needs exercising. But it will move you to new levels. And visualisation aids, such as the Dream Board, are big helps.
If you want the power to work for you then you have to be active. Yes, focus, and particularly concentrated focus increase the possibilities of success allowing for the so called Law of Attraction. If you like the idea of magic, and I do, focus is firing up the magic. But, unless you live at an unusually high level of consciousness, things aren’t going to just materialise whilst you sit there. You have to move and make effort. With the house we had to find images before the details began to expand, as if by magic. Many a time we said, “I never knew this existed” or “Look at this, it is so much more what we want”. Invariably, as the vision grew it became more specific, more focused and the RAS began and continued to cause us to do this. The RAS will provide the answers in proportion to your efforts. At the outset you will see small results but as you build your knowledge, bank your efforts, the RAS will reveal bigger answers.
You do have superpowers but then so does everybody else. The shame is that most will pass through this world ignorant of the knowledge or, not be prepared to apply the effort or discipline required to bring them to the fore. We are so much more than most people realise.
Interested? So start small and create a Dream Board. Nothing complicated. Just some images stuck on the fridge that you will see regularly. Add to them. Modify them. Be patient. Sometimes the magic takes time, but do keep going. As I said, our house was some years in the creating.
Yours, in a focused sort of way,
Wic
