Pogue,
The very first person we referenced in our letters was D.H.Lawrence. Here’s a very short poem by the same which makes a profound statement and makes me wonder at men’s self indulgence.
I never saw a wild thing
sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself.
How quickly we move to ‘me’ and ‘my’ with no awareness of the larger picture. Nature has much to teach us if only we’d listen.

Are you reading Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations and Seneca these days, Pogue? You’re sounding very Stoic these days…Not a bad thing at all!

Tis true. The world is in a great mess, dear friend; many people guard themselves jealously and selfishly and do not think about other people’s welfare, not even their own kins these days. Mmm… self love has overridden the love and struggle for a better humanity. Quite sad!
